"Visual DNA"

This is an interesting twist on all those online quiz things that supposedly tell you things about yourself. This one supposedly tells you what kind of a person you are based on your choices from different sets of images given a very short prompt. The link is here. I found it somewhat accurate, though certain results did not match my personality. Of course, with things like this, you always have to wonder if it seems to match your personality through very general descriptions that match large portions of the population, something akin to why astrology seems to continue to be prevalent. It could be more along the lines of the Myers-Briggs personality test though. Regardless, I thought it was an interesting variant on the online quiz phenomenon.

PhD Comic

Inspired by the joke that a BS degree actually stands for "bullshit," MS for "more shit" and PhD for "piled higher and deeper," it's PhD the comic. Beautifully drawn and intelligently penned by former mechanical engineering grad student Jorge Cham, PhD explores themes of geekiness, academic frustration, student poverty, procrastination, and metaphysical doubt. It follows the exploits of Cecilia a geeky woman in the geeky man's world of hard science; Slackenany, who has been a lazybones grad student for a ledgendary and unknown amount of time; the unnamed hero, whos adviser has not remembered his name for the ten years of the comic's existence, and Tajel, the token humanities student. Beneath the cheeky jokes and movie parodies, there is a genuine and bitter criticism of the academic process. I tried to hold off reading this until I was an actual grad student, but I couldn't stop myself from reading the entire archive.

Jesus said Take it to the hole!

Anyone remotely interested in basketball videos - I know that Vince Carter can be soft as hell, and is sort of reprehensible - but he is probably the best dunker ever.

Evidence: Vince Carter In-Game Top 10

Also, Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, Kobe Bryant, and Dominique Wilkins. All in-game. If you can't open them or they look too dark, try running windows media player (or an equivalent) and opening them from the file menu "Open URL".
