Battles - "Atlas"

I'm not sure what it is about this song, I can't fucking get enough.

I guess I like the sound of killer lemmings on the march?

there's this guy named dan deacon in baltimore who performs in an old warehouse building a coupla times a month who screams into this syntheputer (made up word) that then turns it into outrageous semihuman vocals. much like lemmingboys except better.

One more thing about DD...Baltimore's City Paper has an article about the Wham City collective, of which Mr. Deacon is an affiliate. He says Wham City was actually inspired by the Olneyville Fort Thunder collective:
The mythologizing of the Fort has now been going on for almost as long as it was around, and it's become an ideal for a generation that wants its living space to be an extension of its creative process, a generation that makes buildings themselves turn into ongoing, organic art projects. Or a generation that just doesn't feel like vacuuming that often.

Wham City be some fun lovin. Also Fela Kuti tributes at the Baltimore Afrobeat Society, in a similar setting except downtown/westside. Bizarre subculture, CityPaper calls it. Subculture? Questionable. Bizarre, verily. http://www.citypaper.com/bob/story.asp?id=8807
